Berkshire Hathaway is an American multinational conglomerate holding company headquartered in Nebraska, USA. Berkshire owns a diverse range of businesses including confectionery, retail, railroads, home furnishings, encyclopedias, manufacturers of vacuum cleaners, jewelry sales, newspaper publishing, manufacture and distribution of uniforms, and several electric and gas utilities.

Berkshire Hathaway Energy owns one of the largest renewable energy portfolios in the US. A growing portion of electricity generation mix now comes from environmentally cleaner sources such as wind, water, the sun and the earth’s natural heat. As part of Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s expansion into the unregulated renewables market, a primary subsidiary – BHE Renewables – was developed to oversee unregulated solar, wind, hydro and geothermal projects.
