National Education Union
Formed in 2017 by the merger of the NUT and the ATL, the NEU has over 500,000 members, and is the largest education union in the UK. It is sad but true that govt ministers are often driven by fanatic adherence to ideology, and ignore the yawning chasm between theory and practice. Children are the future for us all: but without a decent education, that future could be very grim. Research shows that the IQ levels of young people in the West have been steadily falling over the past few decades, possibly linked to changes in the way children are educated.[1]
Strength is in numbers: join the Union and have a voice in how policy is shaped. For example, in Mar.2013 the NUT passed a vote of no confidence in Michael Gove's dogma-based policies, backed up by the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT). Consequently, Gove was removed as Education Secretary.
