Political Timeline

Jun.2017Appointed as junior Brexit minister under David Davis in the Department for Exiting the European Union. Critics said the appointment showed Theresa May was ignorning the result of GE-2017 where she lost her majority, by appointing a hard Brexiteer to help lead negotiations.[1]
Nov.2016Chairman of the European Research Group on its relaunch; to keep up pressure on the govt and force its hand.
Jun.2015Founding member of Conservatives for Britain (CfB), formed to pressure David Cameron in his efforts to re-negotiate EU membership terms. CfB warned that it would support "Leave" in the forthcoming referendum.
Nov.2010On Thursday, I had lunch with the remarkable Legatum Institute... it's a quite astonishing group of organisations committed to human flourishing, right across the range of what Legatum calls the "Prosperity Ladder".[2]
Oct.2010Asbestos: Lobbied to weaken asbestos laws. Baker asked Iain Duncan Smith to amend the provisions of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 to distinguish between the white form of asbestos and the blue and brown forms. Baker additionally asked "if he will commission an inquiry into the appropriateness of the health and safety precautions in force in respect of asbestos cement". He also pressed for a relaxation of the rules on “end of life asbestos cement sheets on farms”, citing an asbestos industry expert to support his contention.[3][4] Is there any connection between Mr Baker's lobbying and the Corporate Espionage#Asbestos unmasking?
