Columbia Threadneedle Investments is the brand name for Ameriprise's global asset management business,[1] offering investment advice and products to individuals, institutions and high-net worth investors. It was formed in Mar.2015, from the merger of #Columbia Management Group LLC with #Threadneedle Asset Management, another subsidiary.

Nov.2018 Anglia Square Shopping Centre: Developers Weston Homes and Columbia Threadneedle lobbied Norwich City Council to excuse their development from paying the Community Infrastructure LevyWikipedia-W.svg, and the council agreed. Despite a £12m govt grant, the number of affordable homes was driven down to 120, out of a total of 1,234. Historic England, amongst many others, objected to the 20-storey high-rise development, given its proximity to the Norman castle, the medieval cathedral, the Roman Catholic cathedral, City Hall and medieval churches.[6]

Anglia Square Shopping Centre in Norwich was bought from its previous owner, property investment firm Lagmar Properties, which pocketed a £12m profit for having held onto it for 9 months.[7]

Columbia Management Group LLC

Columbia Management was an investment adviser to institutional and private funds. It was acquired by Ameriprise in May.2010 from Bank of America Corporation.

In Mar.2015, Ameriprise merged Columbia Management with another subsidiary, #Threadneedle Asset Management, renaming the merged entity as "#Columbia Threadneedle Investments". Columbia Threadneedle became the single global brand for Ameriprise's asset management business.[1]

Liberty Funds Distributor became Columbia Funds Distributor; Liberty Funds Services was renamed Columbia Funds Services; and Liberty Wanger Asset Management became Columbia Wanger Asset Management.[12]

Luxembourg-registered Threadneedle Asset Management Holdings SàrlOpenCorporates-sm.svg is the holding company for the Threadneedle group. Subsidiaries operate as investment management firms, offering portfolio management and advisory services to individuals, institutions, trusts, private funds, charitable organisations, and investment companies.

Threadneedle is wholly-owned by Ameriprise Financial. As they have grown from their origins in the UK insurance industry, they continued to innovate and now manage assets on behalf of clients across Europe, Asia and the US, including pension schemes, insurance companies, private investors, corporations, mutual funds and affiliate companies.


2015 #Columbia Threadneedle Investments: #Threadneedle Asset Management was merged with #Columbia Management Group LLC to create a combined brand.[1]
Jul.2012 UK Select Trust was taken over by Threadneedle, having previously been managed by Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.[18]
Nov.2011 LV= Asset Management: Threadneedle took over responsibility for the investment funds of LV= (Liverpool Victoria).[19]
Jun.2009 Standard Chartered Bank's World Express investment funds business was acquired, providing Threadneedle with an Luxembourg-based SICAV platform, and enabling the introduction of its own SICAV range.[20]
Feb.2008 Invesco Perpetual's full service defined contribution pension business was acquired.[21]

Threadneedle Asset Management Ltd was liquidated, and a re-branding exercise was undertaken to combine the Threadneedle Asset Management Ltd and Scudder Kemper Holdings (UK) Ltd groups.
May.1998 Zurich Financial Services was owned by Zurich Allied AG (57%) and Allied Zurich plc (43%). (AR-Dec.1998) BAT Industries demerged its financial services division, which included insurers Eagle Star and Allied Dunbar, along with Farmers Insurance Group in the USA; the division then merged with Zurich Insurance Company.[25] Zurich's shareholders will own 55% of the merged operating company and BAT's 45% through a UK holding company.[24][26]
