WPI Strategy is a public affairs and strategic communications consultancy which creates and delivers high impact campaigns for organisations looking to engage with political, media and public audiences. We are a highly experienced team drawn from the most senior levels of Government, the civil service and the media.

Unlike other consultancies, our partners are always client facing. We also work extensively with our sister company, WPI Economics, a leading economics consultancy headed by a former Treasury official, which produces evidence based content to underpin our campaigns.

People

Matthew Oakley, Director, WPI Economics. Matthew founded WPI Economics in 2015. He is a respected economist and policy analyst, having spent well over a decade working in and around policy making in Westminster. He had previously been Chief Economist and Head of Financial Services Policy at Which?, and Head of Economics and Social Policy at the think tank Policy Exchange. Matthew began his career as an Economic Advisor at the Treasury. He holds an MSc in Economics from University College London. He also led the Independent Review of Jobseeker’s Allowance sanctions that reported to Parliament in 2014.

Jamie Thunder, Senior Consultant, WPI Economics. Before WPI, Jamie was a Senior Policy Advisor at the consumer champion, Which?. His work there focussed on consumer data, personal finance and economic regulation, both in a UK and international context. Before Which? Jamie led on policy and communications at The Money Charity, the UK’s leading financial capability charity. His first degree was in English Language and he has an MA in Investigative Journalism from City University. He is a prolific writer and was recently chosen as one of The Short Story’s selected writers for 2017.

WPI Strategy has hired former Labour adviser Max Wilson as an Account Director. Wilson joins the agency set up by Nick Faith and Sean Worth from his role as Head of Communications at the Back Heathrow campaign. Before joining Back Heathrow in 2015, Wilson spent five months as a senior adviser to Harriet Harman during her stint as interim leader of the Labour Party. ref, ref

We help our clients apply economics to policymaking and policy debates; become thought leaders and influence policy; and understand how changing economic and policy realities have an impact on their business.

We are comprised of a small core team of Senior Consultants and draw on expert Associates to bring specific knowledge and skills to individual projects. Our team draws on backgrounds in a wide range of senior positions in government, industry, and think tanks domestically and internationally.

Faith is known as a sociable and energetic lobbyist with excellent links to many ‘rising star’ Conservative MPs. A former director of communications at Policy Exchange, he set up WPI Strategy with ex-Tory special adviser Sean Worth in 2014. The agency now has a reputation as one of the best-connected Tory lobbying shops, although Faith has insisted that they don’t just do traditional public affairs.
