  • Apr.15.2018: FC Business Intelligence founder eyes multimillion-pound windfall. FC Business Intelligence, which runs events for the Insurance Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry and Energy Industry, has brought in advisers from the corporate finance firm Clarity to carry out a "strategic review" of the business. Guy Grant, chairman of FC Business Intelligence, set it up from a kitchen table in 1990. He retains a substantial stake. The group's biggest events organisers include Insurance Nexus, Nuclear Energy Insider and Petrochemical Update. The move to consider a sale comes during a period of unprecedented takeover activity in the industry. Informa announced a £9bn merger with UBM earlier this year, creating a new London-listed industry heavyweight. Ascential plc, (formerly known as Emap plc), is in the process of selling off its exhibition and events business for £300m. Last week, Clarion Events Ltd, owned by American private equity giant Blackstone, announced the $300m (£210m) acquisition of PennWell Corporation, a USA-based energy publisher and events company.
