[edit] Documentation

This is a Template for Politicians of all persuasions.

Note: See the Talk page for the formatted version. If the actual template contains line breaks, I get blank paragraphs at the top of the article page.

Portrait size: 250 x 300

Images and Colours

Depending on which Parliament a member sits in, the 2 bars at the top get their Parliament's colour + their Parliament's logo. Nb: since Mar.2018, there's a new Portcullis logo. See the Talk page for sources, etc.

Parliaments / Assemblies
HoC: {{img|House-of-Commons.svg|240|37}}  #085196  (Westminster Parliament)
HoL: [[File:House-of-Lords.svg|225x30px]] House-of-Lords.svg  #a2070f  (Westminster Parliament)
Eng. Parl: {{img|English-Parliament.svg|240|232}}  #ce1124  (English MPs)
NAW: {{img|National-Assembly-for-Wales.svg|240|205}}  #e60a82  (Welsh Assembly)
SP: {{img|Scottish-Parliament.svg|240|99}}  #5c2d91  (Scottish Parliament)
NIA: {{img|Northern-Ireland-Assembly.svg|123|100}}  #4a82c3  (same colour as logo)
MEPs: {{img|European-Parliament.svg|220|120}}  #003399  (same colour as logo)

All other politicians get grey bars (style = "plain") + find a decent image to put beside "Politicians". I think I'm going to have to make the image + "Politicians" into one image, because the image won't position correctly in Chrome.

Band Colours

I decided I didn't like the linear gradient, it's too flashy. Now we have a 1px line across the top and bottom of the band of the main colour, plus a background colour. Choosing the bg colour isn't trivial. Here are the steps I'm currently following:

  1. Goto http://www.color-hex.com/color/e5f6f4
  2. Say the main colour is #00ad93; input this at the top of the page and click "Get Info"
  3. In the "Tints" section, click on the last colour before white at the far right, ie. #e5f6f4
  4. On the next page, again in the "Tints" section, choose the 5th tint, eg. #eff9f8

Add them to the table(s) above as I figure them out. Main colour first; background colour second.

Usage

This is a template for Politicians. There are many fields; just leave an entry blank if you don't know the value something should be, eg. "facebook = " in this example.

ToDo

  • Add a "current position" field, to take eg. "Secretary of State for Health and Social Care (Health Secretary).
  • ?Add a "Previous Posts Held", something like the one here: Sam GyimahWikipedia-W.svg, but simpler and easier to read?

Here is the entirety of the table, as you would enter it into an article:
