Advent International is a privately-held American venture capital and private equity firm. Headquartered in Boston's financial district, Advent is one of the world’s largest private equity firm, with 14 offices throughout Western and Central Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia.
Advent focuses on buyouts of companies in Western and Central Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia, in 5 core sectors: business and financial services; healthcare; industrial; retail, consumer, and leisure; and technology, media, and telecom.

The firm was founded in 1978, when it became independent from its parent company, Tucker, Anthony & RL Day Inc, now part of Royal Bank of Canada's Wealth Management division.

In 1984, Peter Brooke founded Advent International.     Priory Group: Advent International bought the Priory Group from the Royal Bank of Scotland. In Apr.2011, Priory acquired Craegmoor, another specialised care services provider owned by Advent. Advent financed Priory in making 8 further tuck-in acquisitions to solidify the company’s market position. Advent also enabled Priory's entry into the private pay market. In Feb.2016, Advent sold Priory to Acadia Healthcare Company Inc.ref
