Lion Capital is a private equity firm specialising in buyout and control investments in middle market and mature businesses in the consumer sector, including branded products, personal care, food and beverage, apparel, accessories and luxury goods; food distribution; and specialty retail. The firm invests in Europe and North America, and is based in London, with additional offices in California.[1]

In 1998, Hicks Muse (Europe) was formed as the European arm of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Inc, by Lyndon Lea and Neil Richardson, who had previously worked together from 1993-1998 at Glenisla, the European affiliate of KKR & Company LP. In early 2005, Lion Capital was formally launched.[1]
